Acts of Kindness by Hixson Students

Our teacher gave us an assignment. The assignment was to perform a random act of kindness by using a dollar. The way I spent this dollar was I went to get my mom some prescription medicine because she was really nauseous.  I chose my mom because she was really ill and I never want to see my mom sick. I felt great helping my mom out since I don’t have a job. I felt so good about what I did that I gave her a hug. That next day my mom was delighted and was not sick.

Our teacher gave us an assignment to work on a random act of kindness. She gave the whole class a dollar each. For this I did something special. I gave the money to a friend of mine.  I have chosen this person because he is a good person to hang out with.

This happened a couple of weeks ago at a basketball game.  What happened was he was going to a store and he didn’t have enough money to get this item that he wanted so I gave him this dollar to help him out. I felt happy to give the dollar to someone who didn’t expect it.

A random act of kindness happened when I gave a dollar for gas so I could go to my party.  My mom was so cheerful because she needed one more dollar to get gas at the pump, but she did not have enough money.

A random act of kindness is a selfless act to help others more than helping yourself. An example is when you help someone who fell or someone who is cleaning something up. You can see it when someone is walking by and randomly starts helping them. My random act of kindness was to give my dollar to the veterans. I gave my dollar to the veterans a couple days ago. The reason I chose the veterans was because my grandpa is a veteran.  The war that my grandfather fought in was WWII. He was stationed with the Merchant Marines in the Atlantic. He never fought anyone because he was a Merchant Marine and only transported supplies. So when I gave my dollar to the veterans, I know it was going to a good cause to help people like my grandfather. When I gave my dollar to the veterans I felt really happy, because it made me think of my grandpa and all the other troops that fought for our freedom in all the wars.

My random act of kindness was to give the dollar to my church's charity box. The box is in the back of the church. It was a wooden box; it was broken into. Then the church had a metal box with double locks put on it. The church has you put the money in an envelope. Then you put the envelope in the box. I felt pretty good giving money to the homeless or to charity.

I gave money to a homeless person because he wanted it. The homeless person looked poor and wanted food, so I gave him a dollar. The homeless person was outside McDonald’s in Old Orchard during a snowstorm. He dressed as if he lost his job and house. I imagine he had a job as a business executive and was highly respected once upon a time. It felt good to do something for someone else.

A random act of kindness is thinking of someone else. My uncle had a smoking problem.  He stopped smoking, but one day I saw him smoking and I looked at him.  I told him to give me the pack of cigarettes and I broke the package.  I went to the store and got a bag of Jolly Ranchers to stop his addiction. All this time my uncle has not taken a puff off of a cigarette in two years.
